Education award for Bignor Roman Villa - Entertainment - Midhurst and Petworth Observer

Staff at Bignor Roman Villa are celebrating after receiving a prestigious award for educational excellence.
Museum manager Lisa Tupper has announced the team at the nationally-recognised visitor attraction has received the Sandford Award for Heritage Education.
"The award covers a wide range of criteria from how the sites' educational programme links to the local and national heritage through to the quality and range of the educational resources and facilities available to enhance students' visit," said Mrs Tupper.

She added: "The staff and volunteers from Bignor were also praised by the judge, Keith Andreetti who spent the day at the villa during a visit of 90 Year 6 pupils from Downsbrook Middle School from Worthing."

In his report the judge said: "The educational programmes at Bignor Roman Villa make good use of the huge potential of this important site. Bignor is an excellent example of an affluent Roman country dwelling.
