Article: Asterix Artist Promises Successor

Asterix Artist Promises Successor

The Asterisk comics aren't exactly real history, but I'm sure I'm not alone in having fond memories of encountering them as a child, enjoying both their humour and this interesting new world which I could learn more about through traditional history. (And nobody has ever claimed they are true, unlike some films…)

Well, the comics - which featured a small Gaullish village holding out against the Romans - were created by writer Rene Goscinny and artist Albert Uderzo. Goscinny died in 1977, and Uderzo has announced the series will continue on beyond his retirement as a new artist has been identified. He or she will premiere in a new book in 2012.
