Roman Centre at Maryport

Plans for large Roman visitor attraction in Maryport, Cumbria have been submitted to Allerdale Borough Council by Hadrian's Wall Heritage Limited.

The £10.7 million Maryport development will be at Camp Farm, which is a Victorian farm and will include the Roman fort of Maryport and its civilian settlement. Link for more info.

This is great news, as although the proposed site is on the west coast and a few miles south of the end of Hadrian's Wall proper, its still extremely good to hopefully get a large modern centre where visitors can at last get some welcome information on the Wall and the Roman occupation of the west of the country.
